About Axon

Fellowships in financial practice — funded in full, for graduates from township and rural communities.

Who We Are

Axon FS Knowledge Hub is a South African non-profit company and a SARS-approved Public Benefit Organisation.

We award fellowships in financial practice. Each runs for twelve months and is funded in full — so that financial need is never a barrier to selection.

The Fellowship is the centre of Axon. The other units exist to serve it: one prepares the learners who will be selected next, and the other supports the work fellows do in the communities they serve.

Our work is in financial services because that is where the National Development Plan's mandate is most unmet. The communities least served by institutional finance should be served by practitioners who come from them.

Units

The Fellowship is the centre of Axon. Each unit exists to serve it.

Four tracks. Each runs for twelve months and is funded in full. Fellows are selected rather than enrolled, and cohort sizes are deliberately small.

Fellows work inside the institutions the Fellowship serves, and graduate with a professional portfolio and an accredited postgraduate qualification.

Selection

Fellows are selected, not enrolled. Cohort size is deliberately small.

Enterprise is the operational arm of the institution. It supports the delivery of the Fellowship and works alongside the community organisations and ventures fellows serve in the course of their practice.

Function

Operational support for the Fellowship and the ventures fellows serve.

Education prepares township and rural learners for eventual selection into a Fellowship. It runs foundational and enrichment programmes in the skills the Fellowship requires, delivered with the City of Johannesburg across all City Regions.

Pathway

Preparation for eventual selection into the Fellowship.
